If you and your spouse, significant other and/or family are planning a camping trip, you will want to make sure you have all of the necessary supplies.

First off, you will need a good quality tent. Make sure you look at the size so you purchase a big enough one for the number of people who will be camping. You can buy a tent that is a little larger than the number of people who will be using it, this way you will have more than ample room in the tent. You can purchase tents that have an added screened in area to relax in while sitting on chairs. This is a nice option if it rains during your camping trip so that you have a screened in shelter to sit in, talk and enjoy each others company.

Even if you are camping all on your own, you have the option of buying a solo tent. Think of the ease you will have in setting up a solo tent.

The second necessity you will need is a sleeping bag. The sleeping bag is the most important item you will need. You want to make sure that the sleeping bag is very warm and comfortable. If you do not get a good night sleep due to being uncomfortable and cold in your sleeping bag, you will be tired and not have as much fun on your camping trip as you should.

You can choose from a variety of styles of sleeping bags from the traditional to a fancy sleeping bag that will come in handy if you are hiking and an emergency comes up on where you will be sleeping. If you plan on camping when the weather is extra chilly and snow could be a possibility this tent is perfect for the elements. You can keep the pesky bugs off of your face if you will be camping without a tent as the tent offers a little canopy area over your face so you can get more air and feel open around your facial area while keeping you cozy and warm inside of the bag.

You will want to choose a cozy kids sleeping bag for your child or children. You can choose from a variety of warm kids sleeping bags with a pocket for the child to store all of his or her goodies or even kids sleeping bags with a built in soft and comfortable pillow. Make sure you choose a warm and comfy kids sleeping bag for your child or children so they awaken happy to explore the amazing outdoor world.

Another important item you should always carry with you on your camping trips is a MagLite. You never know when a flashlight can come in handy while on your camping trip.

Enjoy your next camping trip with a sturdy high quality tent, comfortable and cozy sleeping bag for you and your children and invest in a MagLite in case of the usual getting up in the dark having to take one of the kids or yourself to the bathroom or other emergency.

Camping is one of the best ways to spend time in nature as well as bond with your friends and family. It’s something that many people will also remember doing when they were kids and will continue to do throughout their life. There are many things that you need to bring on your camping trips like food, a sleeping bag, clothes, and other gear. One important item you should also bring is a camping lantern. This article will be about the benefits of having a camping lantern as well as a quick guide to buying one.

When it comes to having available lighting on camping trips, most people will use a flashlight. While this is something that is necessary to bring along, for certain things, it can be inconvenient since for the most part, you have to hold them. Let’s say after the camping fire has died out and you’re wanting to spend some time inside your tent just to share some stories with your friend. You will need something that will provide you with light. This is wear a camping lantern can be useful. Since you don’t have to hold it, it’s a lot more convenient.

During the night, if you wanted to go to the bathroom, having a lantern will be a lot more convenient as well since the light spreads in all directions, not just in a straight line like flashlights do. They are also very durable as well.

In terms of buying these lanterns, you can find them at any store that sells camping gear as well as online. You will have different choices of camping lanterns such as battery operated and oil lanterns. Each of these have advantages and disadvantages but in general, you will be better off with a battery operated one. The cost of these lanterns can vary depending on the size, the brightness level, and the type but you can expect to pay around $30 or so for a decent one. So the next time you go out on a camping trip, make sure you pack a lantern as well.

Your first camping adventure can be improved by following a few tips. This article will help to make that first trip more enjoyable.

    * Try to put some thought into your choice of where you camp. For some people this could be away from a commercial campsite and away from civilization. For most people however, their first few camping trips are on commercial campsites with facilities such as hot showers, toilets etc. Unless you are very confident or are camping with more experienced campers, these sites can be a safer and more comfortable introduction to camping.
* Have a practice run before you go camping for real. If you’re unfamiliar with how to erect your tent, this will highlight any problems and will give you more confidence for erecting the tent at the campsite.
* When at the campsite, try to avoid erecting the tent too close to others. This is for fire safety reasons as well as privacy. Around 6 paces should be left between tents.
* Don’t pitch the tent on low parts of the site, as rainwater will collect here first and these areas will be the last to dry out.
* Avoid pitching the tent under trees if possible. They can be dangerous in thunderstorms and high winds, can drip sticky sap onto the tent and also drip water on the tent for a long time after the rain has finished.
* If conditions are likely to be windy, pitch the tent near some shelter such as walls. Shaded areas are also good in hot weather as the inside of the tent could get pretty hot.
* Try to position the tent not too far from facilities such as showers and toilets, but not too close either. Too close and it can be a bit noisy, too far and night time toilet visits can be inconvenient.
* Make sure that your sleeping bag or bedding is warm enough for you to get a comfortable night’s sleep. Clear nights can get very cold even in Summer. Using an insulated sleeping mat under the sleeping bag will keep you much warmer by retaining your body heat, and will also make the ground less uncomfortable by giving some padding between you and the ground.
* Don’t forget to take a torch with you, this can be useful if you arrive late at the site and have to pitch the tent in the dark. Campsites are usually not well-lit so you’ll also need one to get around at night.

If you’ve just got yourself a tent and aren’t sure what else you need, read this article. It’ll tell you what camping gear you need before your first camping expedition.

A Sleeping Bag

If you are camping in very warm weather, you might not need a sleeping bag, but even in warm countries nights can quickly get cold. An alternative to a sleeping bag is to use some bedding from home, but this will take up more space than a sleeping bag. The best ones are filled with down, but they are expensive and don’t insulate when wet through. Hollow synthetic fibre types are the next best thing, and are cheaper and insulate when wet. They vary in thickness depending on how cold the nights are likely to be, with thicker bags best for colder temperatures. Personal choice also comes into it, as some people feel the cold more than others.

Sleeping Mat

These are usually made from closed cell foam, and fold or roll up for transporting. They can make a huge difference to warmth when used beneath your sleeping bag, and help to make the ground more comfortable.

Inflatable Mattress Or Self-Inflating Mat

Inflatable or self-inflating mattresses make sleeping a lot more comfortable. As their name suggests, self-inflating types don’t need pumping up. Inflatable types will need a hand-operated or foot-operated air pump, or electrical air pump if you have an electrical supply from a vehicle or the site.

Utensils For Cooking And Eating

If you don’t mind cold food, you won’t need any cooking gear. Some sites allow fires, and it’s possible to cook on these, but more often you will need a camping stove. These can be powered by several different fuels, just make sure you take enough fuel or can buy the right type where you are camping. Some small stoves can be unstable with a pan on them, and this could cause injury if hot food or liquids fell off the stove. Try to get a stable one for the extra safety it provides.

There are many types of pans available in camping shops, just don’t take too many with you as it’s surprising how few you need to get by. You can also eat straight from the pan if you want to keep the amount of gear you take to a minimum. Lightweight cutlery is also available from camping shops, and you might also need a cup for drinks.

A Torch

Most camp sites get very dark at night, so don’t forget to take a torch. Head torches are very useful, leaving both hands free to cook, read, pitch the tent etc.

The option of camping is more appealing because of the current economic downturn. The campsite has become less inconvenient making family camping more comfortable. Campsites will soon find themselves booked up with caravans and tents alike.

The beauty of your outdoors tent is that is relatively quick to put up. Of course, this time frame depends on how much knowledge you have in putting up your tent, but generally the new designs are made easier to set up. The only essential part of erecting a good outdoors tent, besides making sure you put down the pegs and a sufficient number of them too, so you aren’t blown away in a gale – not something to experience when you are in a tent – one needs to ensure that the inner walls and the fly sheet are not touching. This may not matter if there is little or no chance of rainfall, but even dew is likely to cause more moisture in the tent.

When purchasing a tent, it would be a good idea to consider a few points mentioned below. The more specific you are about your tent, the less likely you are to buy one that is unsuitable

How many people will this tent sleep? How many “rooms” do you want in this tent? Is this an all weather tent?

Tents are sold in different sizes. The smallest outdoor camping tent would be the one-person tent. If you are buying an outdoor tent and wish to use it for storage and sleeping, then you need to consider buying a bigger sized tent. Tent sizes are made specifically for the number of people sleeping unless you are going for the family tents, which already have storage areas.

The family outdoor tent is a clever design. With these designs, privacy for the parents or the children is still possible. These tents are broken into two sleeping areas (usually at either end of the tent), and the middle area is for storage of seats and camping equipment. When purchasing your tent, it would be best to decide if you will need this middle space – it may make setting up more difficult.

Because the need for tents is becoming more specialized, there are more choices to be made, and with a great range of suppliers and types, there is less likelihood of buying a tent that does not cover your needs. If you are climbing mountains and need camping equipment for cold environments, then your more professional camping shops will have suitable outdoors tents in stock.

You might think that a camping chair is a camping chair. Well, not quite. There are some differences in the constructions. This means that there are camping chairs that are better suited for some purposes and others who serve you best in other situations. And of course there are differences in quality between the chairs as well. In this article I will try to give you some advice when you are trying to choose the chair that is best suited for you.

Let’s say that you are a guy that enjoys the good and luxurious things in life. You will be surprised at how good the best models of camping chairs are. They are actually not far behind regular living room chairs in comfort. With this in mind, it should be obvious that camping is not only for the nature enthusiasts, but for everyone. Keep in mind though; these models are fairly big so they are mainly meant for very short trips.

If you on the other hand are one of those guys who just love to be out in the wild all year round, there are options for you as well. The small, easy carried chairs will fit you perfectly. To be precise these chairs are actually called camping stools. They are usually a much stripped version of the full blood camping chairs. No back support and lousy padding is the price you have to pay for reduced weight and size.

Of course there are all kinds of shapes and sizes between these two outer points. You can basically choose a size that fits your needs. The main thing to think about is the distance to where you are going. If you are planning a long walk, choose something light, if you are camping outside your car, choose a model that has more comfort but is heavier.

The last thing you need to consider is the quality of the product. This varies a lot, but you will seldom do much wrong if you stick with respected brands that have a good reputation. A good idea is to read product reviews on the internet before you decide what to buy.

Camp cooking should be easy are fun to do.

A lot of camp cooking is based around a fire, so having a good camp fire, especially one that can produce some good hot coals, is very important.

It is a good idea to always have a billy on the boil for your cups of tea, coffee or instant cup of soup.

Billy Tea can easily be made by adding the desired amount of tea leaves to a billy of boiling water and swinging the billy in a wide arc with your arm 3 to 4 times, by which time the tea should have infused into the water to make the perfect cup.

Pancakes

Combine 1 cup self raising flour with a pinch of salt and 1 egg.

Gradually add 1 cup milk and beat until mixture is smooth.

Heat frying pan over fire and add a little butter. Pour in enough mixture to cover pan and cook until bubbles appear.Flip pancake over and cook the other side.

Serve with butter, golden syrup, jam or whatever you like.

Damper

Mix 2 cups self raising flour, pinch of salt and 1/2 cup milk or water and work into a firm dough.

Shape and dust the outside with flour.

Cover with foil and place in hot coals. Cook for about 25-35 minutes.

If you have a camp oven the dough can be placed directly into it and covered with the lid and placed on the hot coals with more coals on the lid.

Check after 25 minutes. It is cooked when it has a golden crust and an inserted skewer comes out clean.

Serve with butter, golden syrup, jam etc.

Beer Damper can be made using beer, instead of the milk, and a tablespoon of butter.

Jaffles

Place a piece of bread in the jaffle iron. Add tinned spaghetti, an egg, leftover stew or anything else you may desire onto the center of the bread (do not overfill). Place another slice of bread on top, close jaffle iron and place amongst the hot coals.

Check after 3-4 minutes. It is cooked when the bread is a toasty colour.

Roasted Marshmallows

These are an all time favorite with kids and adults alike.

Find a long stick and form a pointed tip on one end. Place marshmallow firmly on the end of the stick and place over hot coals, turning stick constantly. Marshmallow is cooked when turns a light golden color, although some people like it on the darker side, which can happen if flames get onto the marshmallow, in which case you just blow out the flames and eat it.
